Rally Scotland

Saturday 19 November Rally Scotland took place in Stirling.  They were set up next to Vue Cinema.  Me and Adam (fellow member of my class) attended the rally to gain experience using the video cameras, interviewing, and taking photos.  We also met a few other members from the Stirling and Falkirk Campus, we all got along well and got some great footage.  The Ceremonial Finish was done up at Stirling Castle, although it was very wet and windy we got on with the work and enjoyed every minute of it. 

More December Work

Tuesday 8 December:

Video Production - In this class we finished off the set, putting up the wall paper and laying down the floor. We also created some of the characters.

Design Activity - In this class we carried on making props and backgrounds for the animation.

Thursday 10 December:

Communication/Media Analysis - In this class i finished off my presentation and done my two minute talk infront of Gavin. In Media Analysis we had another look at Michael Jackson's "Back or White" music video. Then we discussed when the NAB was.

Friday 11 December:

Animation - In this class i created the Goal Keeper for the animation. I started off with the wire frame and covered it in different colours of plasticine to make it more realistic.

Design and Make - In this class I filled out how i created the character, what steps I took, what tools i used and what materials i used to do so.

Tuesday 1 December:

Video Production - As a group we made our set for the animation we will be creating. Also started on making our props that are essential in the animation.

Design Activity - We carried on making the furniture and started on making the characters. This was a team effort.

Thursday 3 December:

Communication/Median Analysis - In this class I was finishing making my presentation for my two minute talk. In media analysis we had to put video clips of Pingu into the order we thought fitted better. Then we were discussing Michael Jackson's music video "Black or White".

Friday 4 December:

I was notified to go to the Falkirk campus to get my photo took for the Rally Scotland experience that i took part in.

End Of November Work 2

Tuesday 24 November:

Video Production - In this class we updated our blogs, me and Adam made a podcast for the Rally Scotland blog. We also got into our groups and finished the animation we started the week before.

Design Activity - This week we started putting plasticine on our armatures. Getting used to how the plasticine works and stuff.

Thursday 26 November:

I was absent from classes due to my aunty dying.

Friday 27 November:

Web Content - As a group we came up with ideas for our Show Racism The Red Car animation. We then started putting it onto storyboard.

Tuesday 17th November:

Video Production - In this class we

Design Activity - Angie demonstrated how to make the armatures, we then made our first armature and wrote about the products we used and how we used them in our sketchbooks.

Thursday 19th November:

Communication/Media Analysis - In communication we done research into what our talks are about. Also started putting together a presentation based on this. In Media Analysis we split up into groups and got a "Oor Willie" storyboard and had to put them into the order we thought was correct.

Friday 20th November:

Web Content - In this class we put together the animation that took us 45 minutes in total. Most of the class took part in this, the others just sat there and done nothing. We then split into our groups and allocated tasks so we knew what each person would be doing in project two. We also made up a timetable that the team will be sticking to, to make the animation in time.

Design and Make - We got our results back of the assessment, and we all passed. We then done a task on writing up a design brief. Well tried to write it, never got very far.

More November Work

Tuesday 10th November:

Video Production - We looked at imovie for the animations and done an IT task.

Design Activity - We played about with pastacine to get used to making characters out of it. Also spoke to Angie about the course i want to take next year.

Thursday 12th November:

Communication/Media Analysis - We done some punctuation tasks with Anne, then spoke about our talk, what we need to do to pass it and what we need to do to make it a successful powerpoint. In media analysis we done a task on narrative.

Friday 13th November:

Web Content - In this class we all came up with ideas for a storyboard based on Show Racism The Red Card. As a class we then chose the best one and were allocated tasks to make the set, the flags, the lighter and other props that we needed to make the animation.

Design and Make - In this class we done some revision on the design brief, then we done the assessment.

End of October Work

October 27th:

Video Production - In this class we spoke about our new project and what it was about.  We then went on the internet and done some research into Show Racism The Red Card. 

Design Activity - We carried on with finishing our final design. 

October 29th:

Communication/Media Analysis - In communication we wrote our music reviews based on our favourite band or song. In the afternoon as a group we went out to video our film called "The Chase" which wasn't as easy as it looks. 

October 30th: 

Web Content - In this class we spoke a little about our new project, then we went on to drawing our flip books for the first half of the class.  The second half of the class we spoke about the history of Animation and what types on animation you can get. 

Design and Make - In this class i went back into the computer so i could finish my final design using photoshop.  I also done my evaluation. 

Graphic Layouts

Another website that allows you to use and display graphic layouts is bebo, this is a social networking site that has millions of users.  It allows the user to display their information in the order that they like.  However because this is a social networking site the college has blocked it therefore i can not get a screen shot. 

The BBC website allows the user to use and display graphic layouts.  It allows you to drag part of the website to a anywhere that you want that box to be displayed.  This website is eye catching and full of information that the user may find interesting.  

Text Formatting

Another site that allows the user to edit text is livejournal.com.  Live Journal allows the user to sign up and create their own journal, connect with friends and express theirselves. It also has links to music, news and technology. 

Blogger - This website allows you to format text in any way you like.  You can do this the simple way or by editing the html. It has many formatting features, bold, italic, font styles, font size and so on.  It also allows you to upload images and videos to your blog.  

Video Sharing

Yahoo Video is similar to youtube, it allows the user to watch and upload videos of your choice.  It also allows you to have playlists of your choice and allows you to make your own account and interact with other users.  

Youtube allows users to upload and watch videos of their choice.  They can also download the videos to their social networking sites such as bebo.  Youtube has a variety of different videos such as music videos, parts of films and also people messing about in their own time.  You can become a member to youtube by signing up so you have your own account. 

October Work

Tuesday 20th October:

Video Production - In this class we finished the podcast for iweb and uploaded the podcast to the website. We also finished typing in the information onto the website. 

Design Activity - We finished designing ideas for the poster.  We also stuck down our work onto another board. 

Thursday 22nd October:

Communication/Media Analysis -  These classes got cancelled due to our lecturer being off. 

Friday 23rd October:

Web Content -  In this class we looked at our website and put more pictures onto the pages to make it more eye catching and more interesting.  I also updated my blog as I have not done so in the past week.  

Design and Make -   In this class i scanned my work into the mac computer and started editing it on photoshop.  

Search Engines

A search engine is a program on the internet that allows the user to search for a particular topic.  This allows the user to receive information about that topic.  They also have other features such as images, if you are looking for a picture on a certain topic you simply click on the images hyperlink. 

Another search engine based on the internet is ask.com Ask Jeeves has the same features as Google but also allows the user to ask questions and the website answers them to the best they can. 

Google is a well known search engine. 

  

October Work

Tuesday 6 October: 

Video Production -  We started to make our podcast for our website all about Rent.  We added music and recorded information to put in our podcast.  Also sorted out all the photos we needed for the podcast. 

Design Activity - Yet again carried on working on our ideas for the posters.  Came up with better and more suitable ideas. 

Thursday 8 October:

Communication/Media Analysis -  We done some activities to do with homophones and finished our Linkin Park review, then proof read it.  In the afternoon we we discussing what we would make our short video on called "the Chase" as a group came up with some ideas what we could do and how we could do it. 

Friday 9 October:

Web Content - We worked on HTML made a simple page by using simple HTML.  After that we started typing up information on our website, and also updated this blog. 

Design and Make - I was absent from this class. 

September/ October Work

Tuesday 29th September -

Digital Media/Video Production: We finifhsed writing out information to go on our website (EPK) and decided who was doing the website and who was doing the podcast.

Design Activity: We carried on working on our developement stages and coming up with more ideas for posters.

Thursday 1st October -

Communication/Media Analysis: We done research on Linkin Park the band and wrote a review on one of their songs called 'In The End'. In the afternoon we looked at media language and looked at camera angles.

Tutorial: We went down to the learning zone and done a few tasks to show us how to use the library website.

Friday 2nd october -

Web Content: We as a group started the layout of our website and started uploading photos into the gallery pages. We also discussed how the pages would be layed out.

Design and Make: We also carried on with our developement stage in this class, again coming up with more ideas for the poster and backgrounds for it.

More Work

Tuesday 22nd September:

Digital Media/Video Peoduction - In this class we were talking about the finance problems and went to see finance, John also came round to check if we understood everything that we've been taught so far.

Design Activity - We continued working on our idea's board so we can carry on to the next stage of the project.

Thursday 24th September:

Communication/Media Analysis - We played 'judge jury' where we had to decide wheather certain songs were a hit or a miss and give reasons for our answer. In the afternoon we got split up into groups to make a camoflage with the conventions of the music genre our group chose.

Tutorial - As a class we chose our class representatives.

Friday 25th September:

Web Content - We got into our groups and done more research about RENT the musical. I also started writing out the information that will be going into the EPK. As a group we discussed what pages we were going to have in our EPK too.

Design and Make - We started on our second board, I chose to design a poster for RENT the musical, also started on coming up with ideas for the poster.

This Weeks Work

Tuesday 15 September:

Media Production/Digital Video:  This week i learnt about making films and the procedure it takes to make one.  I also made a storyboard based on one of my favourite films called "The Haunting In Connetiket".  

Design Activity:  The class went to the Learning Zone to do some research and collect some photos based of what our first project is.  

Thursday 17 September:

Media Analysis/Communication: In this class i wrote a letter of complaint to a magazine based on the subject of  'should smoking be banned'.  After that we got split up into two groups thinking of views why smoking should not be banned. After lunch we had a debate if smoking should be banned or not then we looked at more music genres and done a word search. 

Tutorial:  The class went down to the Learning Zone to do the Health and Safety quiz. 

Friday 18 September:

Web Content/ Digital Media:  We got into our groups and done more research about Rent which will be performed in Fife on the 17th October.  We collected photos and looked for the cast names but could not find them.  Also updated my blog to keep the lecturer happy. 

Design and Make:  We started looking through magazines and stuff to get things associated with Rent the musical.  We then started laying them out on an A2 piece of paper, so we can work more on the idea's we have come up with.  

Last Weeks Work

Last week the work that i done in all of my classes are as follows :

Media Production/Digital Video : In these classes i was making my podcast, editing photos and putting them into my podcast. Also put music and a voice recording into the podcast to make it more fun 

Design Activity:  We were using acrylic paints to get used to some painting techniques so that we could proceed onto our first project the next week. 

Media Analysis/Communication:  I wrote a short story about my favourite person and how that person made me feel and made and impact on me.  We then went onto looking at music genres and what they genres make us think of when we listen to them. 

Tutorial:  As a group we done a task where we had to put items into numeric order of if they were important or not. 

Friday 11 September I was absent from college therefore never done any work.  

 

Photo Sharing

Flickr is a well known photo sharing website the photo's you upload become a sort of blog for the other viewers looking at your page, site or comments.  The main features of the website are:

Membership:  You have to sign up to the website in order to share your photos with other users/viewers.  To add personal information is an option, you do not have to provide any if you do not wish to. 

Maps:  You can attach your photos to maps. 

Comments:  You can also add comments to your own and other peoples photos that any viewers/users can read and comment back. 

You can also edit pictures on Flickr, it gives you many features to use to help you edit it the way you would like it. 

Photobucket is another well know photo sharing website, however it has some different features from Flickr. 

Photobucket mainly have the same features as Flickr but does not have the map feature. 

The best thing about photobucket is you can view pictures that are mainly edited or animated so highly useful if you like to upload pictures that you have edited on your own.
